This course is designed to give you all the basic skills to begin to lead easy technical ice climbs on your own. A thorough explanation and practice of modern ice climbing techniques will be covered.
At the beginning of the day we demonstrate the proper selection of protection and how to set ice screws while on the lead. The students will first follow a lead climb, then lead several climbs during the day on lead routes that are less difficult. The students will be backed up by a top rope while practicing their leading techniques.
