Matterhorn Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive in Geneva in AM. Meet at airport. Train to Visp. Transfer to Cog rail to Zermatt. Rest and adjust to time difference in afternoon and evening.

Day 2 : Light hiking and acclimating day. Further adjustment to time difference. Visit sites in Zermatt. Visit Matterhorn museum.

Day 3 : Take early train to Riffelhorn for rock climbing in boots. Get great photos of Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Breithorn, Castor and Pollux.

Day 4 : Early start to climb Breithorn or Castor.

Day 5 : Early start to head to Hornli hutte for evening.

Day 6 : 4:30 AM start to climb Matterhorn. Return to Zermatt or stay in Matterhorn hutte.

Day 7 : Optional day for further acclimating before the climb, or alternate summit day in case of bad weather.

Day 8 : Optional day for acclimating, training or summiting.

Day 9 : Return to Geneva in AM. Fly home.

NOTE: This schedule has two extra days in it which gives us flexibility to deal with slow time adjustment, more time if needed for acclimating, and to dodge bad weather if it should occur. If you have more time to stay we can incorporate another day into the schedule if you like. Most people feel very tired and slow the first 48 hours after arriving in Europe, and don’t feel like they can safely climb in that time period. This schedule allows us to deal with that, should it be a concern for anyone.
