Kilimanjaro Itinerary
Days 1 and 2 : Fly from Denver to Moshi, Tanzania. ( We will meet you at the Kilimanjaro Airport when you arrive. ) Evening accommodations
in Moshi.
Day 3 : Rest day in Moshi after long flight to get rid of jetlag. Purchase supplies and rest.
Day 4 : Early ( 7am ) start for Machame Route. Sort gear with porters and sign in at the park gate. Hike to 1st camp ( 6 hours ) at
Machame camp ( 9,800’ )
Day 5 : Leave camp around 10 AM and hike to Shira camp ( 6 hrs / 12,300’ )
Day 6 : Hike to Barranco Hut ( 5 hours 13,400' )
Day 7 : Leave Barranco camp for Karanga Valley camp ( 5 hours / 13,700’ ) Carry water to higher camp. We will carry more water than
normal this day as this is the last water stop on the mountain until we descend from the summit. Our porters will carry 3 gallons each
for cooking our meals.
Day 8 : Hike to Barafu camp ( 15,100’ ) and rest.
Day 9 : Summit Day. Leave for summit at around 1:30 AM. Summit Kilimanjaro ( 19,345' ) in approx. 6 hours. Descend to Mweka Camp ( 5
hours 9,900’ ) Camp for evening.
Day 10 : Descend to the Mweka Gate ( 4 hours / 4,800’ ) Return to accommodations in Moshi via Landcruiser.
Day 11, 12 and 13 : Three day Safari. Ride to visit Ngorogoro Crater National Park, Lake Manyara National Park and the Serengeti. These parks
are teeming with every kind of African wildlife including Lions, Cheetahs, Hippos, Rhinos, Elephants, Zebras, Monkeys, Cape Buffalo, Giraffes,
Flamingos, etc. )
Day 14 and 15 : Return to Arusha to fly home.
NOTE: This schedule gives us one more day to acclimate at 13,000’ than many other guide services, allowing you to be better acclimated and
prepared for the summit day. We’ve had a great deal of success with this schedule with people from 14 to 69 years of age.
